This cable is a USB to Serial (TTL level) converter cable. It’s identical functionally to the FTDI Cable. It’s one of the easiest ways to connect a TTL interface device to USB. and fits directly to many boards including the Lilypad mainboard. The cable uses FTDI’s FT232R chip, which is powerful and well documented. The device is housed inside the USB ‘A’ connector and is terminated at the end of a 1.8-meter cable (6 foot) with a 0.1″ pitch header socket which provided access to transmit (Tx), receive (Rx), RTS# and CTS#. These lines all operate at 3.3V levels. Also brought out in the header are VCC (5V) and GND.
I/O pins configured to operate at 3.3V
VCC pins configured to operate at 5V
allows for a simple way to connect TTL interface devices to USB
Can be used to program your Arduino Pro, Pro Mini and Lilypad
Well protected against the elements
6-Pin Header Assignment
Pin 1 GND
Pin 2 CTS
Pin 3 VCC
Pin 4 TXD
Pin 5 RXD
Pin 6 RTS
WinXP, 2000, 2003, CE, Vista, 7, 8, and Windows 10
Mac OS 10.X
TTL-232R Converter Cable provides a USB to TTL Serial interface with various end connectors.
On board, FT232RL/FT232RQ provides single chip USB to asynchronous serial data transfer interface.
Entire USB protocol handled by the electronics in the cable USB.
Connect directly to a microcontroller UART or I/O pins.
5V CMOS drive outputs and 5V safe TTL inputs make the TTL-232R easy to interface to 5V MCU‟s.
+5V or +3.3V output allows external logic to be powered from the USB port.
6-way outputs provide Tx, Rx, RTS#, CTS#, VCC and GND (except Audio Jack which provides only TX, RX and GND).
3-way Audio Jack connector provides Tx, Rx and GND.
